Waves DeBreath plugin [SOLVED]

Does anyone know if Wave’s DeBreath plugin will work with the current version of Audacity (2.0.6)? I am running Windows 8.1, 64 bit application on an HP Envy laptop with lots of RAM and a large hard drive. If DeBreath will work, how do I install it so that Audacity sees the effect and runs it when needed? Thanks. Rich

Leland and I have answered your same question to our feedback address. We both think it should work but it does not get enabled by Audacity on my Windows 8.1 machine.

Note that Audacity on Windows and Mac doesn’t support 64-bit versions of plugins, so you must always point Audacity to 32-bit versions.

None of the regular helpers here have fully licensed Waves as far as I know. It’s commercial software.

Just to post what Leland has worked out so far, that Audacity does not directly support the Waves VST-shell DLL feature. Without that Audacity won’t load DeBreath. Leland is trying to add VST-shell support to Audacity.

Hi there, wondering if this issue is resolved in audacition 2.1.0? I have installed waves de-breath on my mac and while I can get it to appear, I cannot get it to work in Audacity.
Thanks!

We don’t make “audacition” - if you are using that you will need to ask technical support for that software.

Audacity 2.1.0 does now support Waves (and other “shell” effects where one DLL or DYLIB file loads multiple effects).

Waves VST DeBreath was explicitly tested on Mac and Windows in Audacity before 2.1.0 release. I used it myself on Windows to debreath some audio. So I suspect you are not using DeBreath correctly.

As I said to you when you posted to our feedback address, if you require assistance with how to use the Waves plugins, please read their user guides:

or see this DeBreath video.

Or you may contact Waves support.

If Waves support consider that their plugins are not working correctly in Audacity 2.1.0 then of course if you give us step-by-step instructions to reproduce the problem we will look into it.

Hahaha. Typo - what happens when you use both Audacity and Audition

I do use both programs. The plugins work properly in Audition. However, when I try to use de-breath in Audacity, the plugin will open, but not do anything. This despite using the same specs to remove breaths in Audition.

I contacted Waves support. They said “Please note that this host application, Audacity 2.1.0 is not officially supported with Waves. This does not necessarily mean that it won’t work, but just that our software was not designed for it nor tested and qualified to run with it. Due to this fact we do not have a knowledge-base of possible problems. It might work fine, but if it doesn’t we will not be able to assist.”

Was merely hoping another Audacity user could help me figure out why it won’t work in this program.

Thanks for any advice.

Please post a short sample of audio that you can debreath in Audition but not in Audacity, and give the exact DeBreath settings that you use in both apps.

I tried the VST version of DeBreath in Audacity 2.1.1-alpha on Mavericks and Yosemite and it appears to be applying the effect correctly.

Uninstalled and reinstalled everything and it is now working! Had tried this before with just waves. Tried again with audacity. Don’t know what changed, just happy it fixed it. Thanks again for your help.
