WaveParse adds Tag Mouth Noise plugin

WaveParse is a suite of nine VST3 plugins (for speed) and thirty-seven Nyquist plugins (for versatility), providing tools for audio cleanup, for gain-only compliance with ACX standards, and for documentation and quality control.

A previous post introduced Tag Floor Noise, a Nyquist plugin that uses data from Locate Floor to identify and label noises within floor portions of a track. WaveParse now enthusiastically announces Tag Mouth Noise, which examines the audio following each floor portion and labels suspicious patterns as mouth noise.

For engineers who prefer individual evaluation and repair of mouth noises rather than applying global processing and hoping for the best, Tag Mouth Noise can save hours of manual review. Many of the detected events will not require repair, but the generated label track allows rapid navigation with Alt + Arrow keys to inspect each candidate and decide what needs attention.

Performance is strong:
• Source track: 26 min 30 s
• Locate Floor: 4 sec (×397)
• Tag Mouth Noise: 9 sec (×176)
• Findings: 1,698 suspicious noises

An experienced user can examine roughly two per second, meaning a complete review of this track takes about 15 minutes—far less than manual discovery while maintaining completeness.

WaveParse remains in beta testing, with a public GitHub release expected in November. It is distributed free of charge. For a download link, email [email protected]. Please search “WaveParse” on YouTube for a tour and detailed plugin demonstrations.
