WAV to MP3

Hi everyone, this is my first post and hope for some kind of help. I have Audacity v2.1.2 obtained via .exe installer.

My problem is that every time I convert from WAV to MP3 the MP3 defaults to ‘HP Connect Music’. This complicates matters for me as all I want to see is a straightforward, no-nonsense MP3 file that I can send across the internet with minimum fuss. Can anyone please tell me how to change from defaulting to ‘HP Connect Music’?
In anticipation, many thanks.

How are you doing that?

If you don’t use “HP Connect Music”, you could uninstall it. See: Tips to free up drive space on your PC - Microsoft Support

It may be hard to remove these HP features, according to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/586628/hp-connect-drive-connect-music-connect-photo-want-them-gone/.

If the problem is that double-clicking an MP3 opens it in the HP application, right-click any MP3, choose “Open with”, choose your preferred app, then make sure the checkbox to always use this app is enabled.

The easiest way to get rid of unwanted HP (or other OEM) bloatware is to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 using the media creation tools on https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10. Note that just doing a “refresh” or “reset” may bring back the bloatware.

I save the WAV in Sibelius and translate to MP3 using Audacity 2.1.2

OK Gale, many thanks for the info…I’ll see what happens:}
