VST plug-ins not showing up after installation

Hey guys,

I’m new to Audacity, although not entirely new to audio editing.
I searched the web for any help, but only found tutorials stating the obvious without any solution.
For some reason, no VST plug-in I tried to install shows up under the Effects tab.
I added them to the Plug-Ins folder inside of the Audacity installation and to the VSTPlugins folder inside Programfiles.
Restartet Audacity after checking the “search for new plugins” box, Audacity opens a new window showing the plug-ins, I press okay and done.
But when I click on the Effects tab, only the original effects show up.

What am I doing wrong?

Audacity 2.0.6 on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

Audacity 2.0.6 supplied by us does not have the text “Search for new plugins” in Effects Preferences. The checkbox to enable is “Rescan VST effects next time Audacity is started”. Please make sure you obtained 2.0.6 here http://audacityteam.org/download/windows.

Audacity does not support VST3 or VST instruments. Also, Audacity on Windows is a 32-bit application. So even though you have 64-bit Windows 7, you must use 32-bit VST plugins with Audacity.

Sorry, yeah the box says “Rescan VST effects next time Audacity is started”.
I tried 32 bit plugins, still doesn’t show 'em. They’re not VSTi by the way.

Please check in Effects Preferences that the box “VST” under “Enable Effects” has a checkmark (tick mark).

The VST effects will be listed underneath the divider in the Effect menu, name of the plugin publisher first.

If you still believe Audacity is at fault, please give the web address where we can download and test the plugins in question.

Okay, for some reason all the plug-ins I downloaded must’ve been faulty.
I tried it again with a different one and that works.
I’m sorry for the inconvinience and wanna thank you for the nice help!

Must’ve been really bad luck or something.
I did everything right, including the mentioned checkboxes.

Thanks for letting us know.

Were the ones that did not work all from the same site? If so, and you tell us the site and the name of the plugins, we could test them out.
