Does Audacity support Plugins for USB Piano?
I am using Windows XP and Audacity 2.0.3
Audacity doesn’t recognize my Evolution USB MIDI Controller Keyboard as an option for input.
Other programs such as FL Studio, and others are able to recognize and record via USB from my keyboard.
I understand that the MIDI Keyboard only transmits a series of commands (Not music) through the USB to tell the software what to play.
Hopefully I thought I could install a VST Plugin to Audacity so I can play my piano…
I’ve successfully done this sort of thing for my Guitar using a Guitar Link Behringer UCG102 and istalled Native Instruments Plugins for this.
I installed 4Front Piano VST Plugin from Free-Loops.com, but I can’t see this Plugin under Effects.
Audacity doesn’t support VST instruments either. You may be able to put a piano VST instrument in a real-time VST host like VSTHost or Minihost from Tobybear Productions then set Audacity to record the audio output of the host.
Please be careful with Windows XP. Microsoft are no longer officially supporting it, so it will be unpatched against any new security vulnerabilities that appear.
Ensure you have a good third-party anti-virus application. Be aware though that this will not give you complete protection against a previously unknown attack.
If it is not practicable for you to update to the much more secure Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can consider installing a Linux operating system instead. Most versions are free and all are very secure.
