im new to Audacity, and it seems no matter what effect i use on the audio recording, I cannot seem to mange how to get the sound to be clear. It sounds very muffled at most times and I also am having issues with getting the a/c sound out of the track. I am not familiar with the graphic equalizer at all. Some great advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
Make sure Windows “Enhancements” are turned-off.
If that doesn’t help, tell us about your set-up and what you’re recording. (Your voice from your computer’s built-in microphone? Are you Close to the mic? Etc?)

It doesn’t take “effects” to make a clear recording although sometimes you can make an improvement.

Air conditioning? It always best if you can prevent noise (or other defects). Pros still record in soundproof studios with good equipment because even with the latest pro software there is only so-much you can do.
Some people making audiobooks or other “professional” recordings at home will turn-off their heating/air conditioning and even unplug the refrigerator, record at quiet times during the day, etc.
Noise reduction works best when you have a constant very-low level background noise… When you don’t really need it. If the noise is bad, “The cure can be worse than the disease”

An equalizer is like bass & treble controls but with more (and more-precise) adjustments. The low frequencies (bass) is on the left and the high frequencies (treble) is on the right.
Post some of your work.

Don’t stop at three seconds. Go out to five or six. If you’re in stereo (two blue waves) and make a WAV file, the forum will stop you if you go over ten seconds.
Voice Recording is a profession. The microphone makers want you to think their microphone will produce professional work from your kitchen table.
Maybe not.
