It’s been about 7 years since I last ran Audacity 2.3.3 on my previous MacPro. Got a new MacPro and recently downloaded 3.7.7. I set it up according to the instructions, but no recording info shows when I try to create a new recording. I’ve tried everything, several times, to get it running - configure Audio Setup as necessary, double checked preferences, checked connections, etc. But no go. I’ve also tried to record using the MacPro microphone, still no go. Any suggestions?
A few specific questions: Under Audio Setup: Recording channels: only Mono is available. Where’s Stereo? What does Enable Silent Monitoring mean? I tried both modes - enable and disable. That mic icon button was what I remember using in 2.3.3 to hear the recording.
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Go to System settings / Privacy and Security and allow access to “Microphone” for Audacity.
If there is a stereo source selected, stereo is shown in Audacity. If you see only mono, your setting probably tries to use the computer’s built-in microphone - which is not stereo.
Where is that? I have “Enable audible input monitoring” under “Transport Options”. This allows you, if activated, to hear over the computer’s loudspeakers (or headphones) what you are recording. Useful if you have a device without loudspeakers connected directly to your computer.
How are you connecting all devices involved? Please describe in detail what you have, including make / model of any devices.
