vinyl encoding with Xone 96 and Audacity

I’d like to encode vinyl records. I’m using the sound card of a Xone 96, a MacBook Pro, and Audacity. I’m having a problem: the recording level is too high. I can’t adjust it either on the Xone or through Audacity. Does anyone have a solution?

You’re connected via USB, right?

So if you turn the sliders down on the mixer, and the meters are showing nothing, it’s still too loud on the computer? I have no explanation… Check the owner’s manual.

What’s surprising is that the potentiometers and gain controls don’t affect the sound. It’s as if the sound from the turntable goes directly to the Xone’s sound card without going through the console. Thanks for the advice, but you can be sure I’ve already read and reread the manual.

This is often a sign that the computer is recording the speakers from the built-in microphone instead of the device. I’m not saying that is what you are doing, but it often ends up being that way.
