Using the Time Shift Tool

I have imported two different MP3’s into Audacity. One is a click track, the other is a song with all the other instruments. (trying to mix a performance track for band purposes) When I try to use the “time shift tool” to adjust one of the tracks, both of them move. Is there something I’m missing ? Just want to align the tracks without both of them moving like I have seen other people do.

  • I have Audacity Version 2.0.5
  • Using Win 7 currently

Switch back to the normal Selection tool (F1 key) and click on a track so that the tracks are not selected (not highlighted), then switch back to the Time Shift tool (F5 key) and move the track that you want to move.
