Using the new Audacity - Error 9986

Hi, i just installed the latest version on my MacBook Air (14.6.1) and can’t get audio from my turntable. I get an error 9986, which Ithink is a device error.

Error info:

]
}
}

What make and model of turntable is it?
How is it connected to the Mac?
Was it working before the Audacity upgrade?
Does Audacity have permission to use the “microphone”? See Control access to the microphone on Mac - Apple Support (CA)
When you go to Apple (menu) > System Settings > Sound > Input can you see your turntable? If you play something on the turntable does the input level meter bounce? If you stop and power off the turntable does it disappear from the Input list?
In Audacity, click on Transport (menu) > Rescan Audio Devices. Then select the turntable as the recording device and try to record.

EDIT: I just saw your other post.
That error is typical of the cheap USB cassette decks. Audacity loses connection to the device when the device powers off. This may be happening with your turntable.
