Using Loopback Audio Issues

I’ve been using Audacity for ages, and I especially use it for a podcast I do, which involves playing music mixed clips from news and commentary shows in between, which I record using the “loopback” function.

The computer I’m using now is Windows 11, and I bought it more than a year. It worked just fine until about 4 months ago I guess when for some reason the audio I am recording on loopback from youtube just sounds shitty. There’s a heavy bass to it that makes it sound awful, and that was never there before. It just happened out of nowhere.

Here’s what I’ve tried already:

  1. Updated all mic drivers
  2. Updated Audacity to latest version
  3. Checked for things like “Beats” audio correction messing things up (there is none)
  4. Fooling around with the input volume both on Audacity and Youtube

I mean, with some processing of effects I can get it to sound “OK” with some work, but I’m annoyed that this just happened out of nowhere, and I don’t want to do the extra step every time I do this, which is a lot.

Wow 38 views and not a single comment. Did anyone listen to the clip? How does it sound to you? Why would Audacity suddenly switch and start recording differently?

I’m seriously fed up with this issue now, and I want to hear feedback from the community, even if it’s “I have no idea”, or “It sounds fine to me”, or whatever.
