I am really new to the recording off the internet subject.
I was using the Audacity program and it was getting large amounts of feedback
and sonic noise when I was trying to use Audacity to record a song off of youtube.
I was wondering if anyone could share some of their knowledge on this.
Basically, I am recording now with a recording line out from a sony receiver to a cassette tape recorder.
I take the recorded cassette song and transfer it using the Audacity Cassette Recorder Pack I bought off of ebay. I am connnecting my laptop through Auxiliary Input. I convert it to mp3 using the Audacity program
Its a outdated system of recording , yes. I dont have much equipment, but am investing in some things. I am open to about any suggestions, as I would love to record songs off the internet.
This page should help you with recording streaming audio (or whatever sounds that is being sent to the computer’s speakers). If you have Windows 7 or 10, use WASAPI loopback. If you’ve got an older operating system you can try one of the other methods.

I assume the cassette machine has a USB port?

If you want to record line-level audio (like from a receiver’s tape output), a desktop or tower computer will have a soundcard with a line-level audio input. If you have a laptop, the Behringer UCA202 has line inputs and is popular & affordable. There are lots of higher-end USB audio interfaces, but don’t get a regular-cheap “USB Soundcard” because these are like laptops with only mic-in and headphone out.
