I have downloaded all of the Audacity installers. My operating system is Windows 11 Home. An ION EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter is connected to my computer. How do I active the process that enables me to download something from the turntable to my computer?
Did you download Audacity form the Official Website? Sometimes an older version is shipped with a product, and although it will probably work it’s easier to troubleshoot if you are using the same latest version as everybody else.
Plug-in the USB before starting Audacity.
Select the USB device as your Recording Device. (It probably won’t say “ION” but it should say “USB… something”.)
Click the Record button and you should be recording.
Note that with this kind a USB device you usually can’t control recording volume. If you are going to adjust recording volume you usually need to adjust the analog level before it’s digitized (and of course, USB is digital). But you can Audacity’s Amplify effect after recording to boost (or reduce) the volume.
Turn-on Software Playthrough and select your regular soundcard as your Playback Device so you can hear what you are recording.
There are LOTS of Tutorials in the Audacity Manual…
