USB microphone won't show up in pull down tabs on audacity

Mac Big Sur
Audacity 2.4.2

I ust bought an Audio-Technica AT2020 USB+ microphone and since I have a MacBook Air I had to get a USB connector so I thought that maybe this was an issue, but when I plug it in the microphone lights up and also registers on my system preferences so the connector is working. I have done all the things suggested, such as, setting the microphone to input on the sound for Mac, trying MIDI set up, etc. No matter what I do when I’m in audacity it will not show my microphone in the pull down tabs. It only shows: Core Audio - MacBook Air microphone - 1 Mono recording channel - MacBook speakers. This is so frustrating because I was so excited about this new microphone. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

With mic plugged in and Audacity open, try:

Transport > Rescan Audio Devices

then check those dropdowns again.

For Audacity to ‘see’ the mic from the off, you need to have plugged the mic in before launching Audacity.

It worked! Thank you SO much! I really appreciate your help!

Fab! You’re welcome :sunglasses:
