Fairly new to this.
Using an iMac, OS Catalina 10.15.4
Have Audacity 2.3.3
Trying to connect and use an Audio Technica ATR2100-USB mic…
I have used this a few months ago and it worked great.
Don’t remember if I had the Catalina OS installed yet…
Now when I attempt to use Audacity and switch the system requirements to the USB mic, it does come up in the drop down box on Audacity, but, it does not work. I get no recording from the mic…
I am attempting to record and then transfer to Podbean or another Podcast site.
I am really not sure what is wrong…
Any help would be greatly appreciated…
Thank you…
I have posted a similar post for iMac, but, having similar issue with my iPad Air 2, but, different program, Ferrite…
iPad Air 2, OS 13.4.1
Using Audio Technica ATR2100_USB mic
Using Ferrite to record on the iPad and transfer to Podbean or another podcast hosting site.
Mic is plugged into iPad through a converter, Ferrite seems to recognize the mic as the display for the voice moves when speaking, but, it does not come across during playback. No sounds. It looks like it is recording but does not play back…
Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong or how to fix this.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
I’ve merged you two topics as we don’t support iPad (Audacity does not run on an iPad), but it seems that the two problems may be related.
Are you referring to the “Device Toolbar”? (Device Toolbar - Audacity Manual)
Unfortunately, Apple broke support for Audacity in Catalina, so to record you have to use a workaround: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/audacity-2-3-3-under-macos-10-15-catalina/54279/1
This issue has been fixed in the next version of Audacity, which is due to be released early next month.
Thanks for your help.
I will work on it. Tried to use the “terminal” in settings but it states there is nothing there for Audacity. Changed the shell to zsh per the terminal bix when it came up because I was updated to Catalina…
I’ll work on it and see what happens. I’m no computer wiz though…LOL
And, sorry about Ferrite and the post…
I was kind of frustrated and forgot they were two different applications…
Thanks again…
To ensure that the command is entered correctly, copy and paste the command:
open /Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity
Sorry…Didi not do the code dialogue box…
Got it…
Working…
Thanks much…
