USB flash drive recorders

These are devices that look and work like flash drives, but can be used as simple voice recorders as well. A couple of people have recommended them to me as a solution to my need for an inexpensive voice recorder that can download to a computer.

I’m looking for comments from people who have used them AND can compare their sound quality, usability, and reliability to conventional voice recorders.

It’s not particular devices that have been recommended, but a class of devices. Most of them seem to be “no-name” products from by companies that I’ve never heard of, and may never hear of again.
