That seems like it could be a good solution. Given we store settings, it would seem unwise to default-discard them if the plugin is removed.
Plug-in Manager has no way to actually remove plugins, only to disable them, retaining their entry in pluginregistry.cfg. Possibly a “Remove” button could be considered with a Yes/No dialogue and a checkbox “Also delete plugin settings”.
Hi All, Not sure if Paul L or MichloIW are still around, but I’m new to Audacity & in need of the De-Esser plugin. I downloaded the two links at the end of Paul L’s post but when I try and open them I get this popup. When I go to “choose application” Audacity isn’t even a choice. I have the same issue following the DeClicker plugin as well. Any advice? I am on a MacBook Pro with MacOS Sierra 10.12.6
Plug-ins that are named with “.ny” as the file extension, are “Nyquist” plug-ins. These plug-ins are unique to Audacity, and are simple “plain text” files that contain computer code written in a computer language called “Nyquist”.
I did exactly this “To install new Nyquist plug-ins, place them in Audacity’s “Plug-Ins” folder at ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/Plug-Ins.” and placed it in this folder. I then click the DeEsser.ny file and get the first image pop up…
Apologies if i’m missing something glaringly obvious but I’m completely lost here!
Sorry very frustrated - I can’t get the De-Esser to show up under plugins. I followed the links you posted above about how to install .ny plugins - when I navigated to Library/Application Support/audacity there was no Plug-Ins folder at all.
I wound up copy pasting the De-Ess and De-Click .ny files into that folder and then tried all the folders under library/audio/Plug-Ins as well - no luck.
Ultimately I got so desperate I created the Plug-Ins folder under library/application support/audacity with no luck.
Any advice from anyone? Would really appreciate it.
It did, but there is a “moderation queue” that delays posts appearing (so that the forum moderators have chance to weed out the copious spam that gets posted).
You may have the wrong folder. I think there are two similarly named folders on Mac.
The one that you want is: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/Plug-Ins
where “~/” means your home folder.
Hi again, late reply as was busy with other commitments then simply forgot! Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I can’t find it at all and I believe I am doing everything you said. As you can see from the attached image, the De-Esser.ny file is in the Plug-Ins folder within the audacity folder.
The only thing I can think of that may be of relevance is that I had to manually create the Plug-Ins folder and one wasn’t in initially in the Audacity folder.
Again thank you for any assistance. it is much appreciated and apologies in advance if I have overlooked - or do overlook - something glaringly obvious.
Please disregard the post I just made - I have two admins on my Mac and think that was the problem. Spent all evening deleting one admin and have sort of solved the problem but will make a new post in the morning with the new problem that has since been created (I’ll try to resolve it first myself!).
So many hours wasted trying to get to the bottom of this
OSX 10.6.3
Audacity 2.2.2
HI IM LIZ AND IM A DECLICKER-AHOLIC. Finally going back to my Mac. Holy cow idk how Gates sells any of that junk.
So Downloaded Audacity (2.2.2) … DL Lame … BUT the dang DECLICKER plugin keeps downloading as a .php file whether left or right clicked (save as). ive got 5 declicker.php files in the plugin folder and ZERO .ny files
I also noticed that hardly any EFFECTS are available … all common ones … ive done the ENABLE/DISABLE/NEW under effects but like only 6 or 8 effects show as available … none that i use. i did notice that all the Apple FX are available … dont use them either.
