Hi…I’ve been using Audacity since it was Cool Edit – and this is a new one. After upgrading to v3.1, everything was fine. Then, a few weeks into it, my mic is now adding UNWANTED REVERB. The audio is coming out FLAT from the mixer. All reverb and echo effects are off. Yet this artifact is in my voice tracks. Did Windows do a stealth update and change some defaults? I’m NOT an audio engineer, but am fairly proficient at what I need to do – and this has me stumped. THANKS for any insights/remedies.

Audacity was never Cool Edit.
Cool Edit became Audition.
my mic is now adding UNWANTED REVERB.
Are you sure the reverb you are hearing is not because you have monitoring of the input enabled in either the Windows mixer or,
in Audacity itself?
Did Windows do a stealth update and change some defaults?
Very possible.
Windows is famous for that.
Maybe an Windows audio enhancement.
Should turn off enhancements in recording & playback tabs … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxnUjiGgBaI
