Unable to transfer audio from cassette tape

I press record and unable to transfer audio from cassette tape without it it being compressed. All I hear are compressed vocals, not the music. A little help. Thanks

Make sure Windows “Enhancements” are turned OFF. Windows is getting “very good” at killing everything except spoken voice.

If that’s not the problem, tell us how the cassette player is connected to the computer.

Good morning. I tried turning the enhancement off. Still not working. I’m using a Type-C 5v that came with the sm-136.

I play the tape but not viewed on the record meter. If sound comes through it’s only vocal and compressed. Thanks

If this is your device: SEMIER SM-136 Cassette Player & Digital Converter, have you tried recording from cassette direct to SD card? If that is better, it should narrow down your search. You could always edit from the file on the SD card. Another idea would to try recording from cassette using Ocenaudio instead of Audacity. It’s free so you have nothing to lose.
