Unable to setup as per Operation Manual?

Gidday all ! Hope someone can advise with this little hic-cup.
Audacity 3.7.3 on Win 10 Ver 22H2. Unable to setup Audacity as per Operations Manual. Under Preferences PLAYBACK : only have two choices - Microsoft Sound mapper - Output OR Speakers High Definition Audio.
Under Preferences RECORDING : only have two choices - Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input OR Microphone (Usb microphone)

No microphone connected and no option to select "Usb Audio Controller) ?
Using a connected Cassette deck to record from - nothing obviously wrong in Control Panel. "SOS ! help appreciated.

Make sure to plug-in the USB device before starting Audacity, or Rescan Audio Devices.

Check your Windows Permissions/Privacy Settings to make sure the USB device is allowed to access Audacity.

(If Windows doesn’t find the device, Audacity can’t see it either.)

Gidday DVD Doug - just getting back to you with an update. Here I was thinking my problem was with the Audacity program and it turns out it is a fault with Record / Cassette deck (new) that I intended to record from ! (Hence the prog’s inability to confirm the recording setting.) I’ve gone back to the maker (MBeat) to see what can be done. However - thanks for your interest and advice. cheers from “Down Under” in Australia. Aussie Big Ears.
