Unable to recover from system error

Operating system = Windows 8 (sorry) Patches are current
Workstation = lenovo g580
Audacity version = 2.0.3

Audacity was opened and the project was specified at at startup While doing a live recording apparently the harddrive had problem causing Windows8 to reboot. This at approximately 50-minutes into the recording.

Starting Audacity has initiated the recovery mode which returned the error: Not well formed (invalid token) at line 3061

The .aup file contains:

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="no" ?>

The associated directory contains 1028 File(s) 1,089,979,240 bytes in 20 Dir(s)

I have searched for recovery information but have not found anything that speak to V2.x.x recovery.

If the invalid token is at line 3061, the AUP must have more content than you posted.

At a guess, the problem is an empty line 3061 at the bottom of the AUP file.

You can make a copy of the AUP, then open the original AUP in Notepad or similar and see if you can find the error. You can find line 3061 if you turn off wordwrap in Notepad. Delete that line if it is empty.

If you prefer, please attach the AUP file. Please see here for how to attach files: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-attach-files-to-forum-posts/24026/1 .

Do you have a reason for thinking the problem was with the hard drive? Have you looked in Event Viewer for information? Operating system crashes are usually driver problems - please see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_errors.html#reboot .
