Unable to monitor what Im recording

I have Audacity 3.2.4 Windows connected to a TASCAM US2x2HR audio interface. This has a direct monitoring control which can either output the input from the input (the cassette deck) or the computer as its being recorded. This function works perfectly on my Macbook Air but can only monitor the input so far on windows - any workaround? Incidentally to get audacity working with the TASCAM I had to uninstall the ASIO driver for it…Will be grateful for any tips

Make sure [u]Software Playthough[/u] is enabled and make sure you’ve selected the correct playback device.

Audacity doesn’t support ASIO* but usually it just ignores it.

  • If you are a programmer you can compile Audacity with ASIO support but they don’t have a license to distribute it with ASIO.
