I “successfully” installed ffmpeg v2.2.2 and located the “avformat-55.dll” file in Audacity’s library preferences. I believe I
followed the instructions carefully but still can’t import an AAC file into Audacity. Maybe somebody can point out where
I messed up in the following steps that I used. Attached is a copy of the diagnistic log file that is over my head.
- Edit → Preferences → Libraries.
- Click on “FFmpeg library” download button.
- Click on “Download” under “Windows” heading.
- Click on “ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe” → Save.
- Close Audacity.
- Browse to save location → double-click on the downloaded file,
“ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe” → Run → OK → Next → Next. Choose
default location:
C:Program Files (x86)ffmpeg for Audacity
- Next → Install.
- Finish → re-launch Audacity.
- Edit → Preferences → Libraries.
- Click on “FFmpeg Library” Locate button.
- Browse → navigate to and double-click on “avformat-55.dll”
in the following location:
C:Program Files (x86)FFmpeg for Audacity
- OK → OK.
