unable to download LAME MP3 encoder

Hi.

I’ve got some legacy Audacity files that I need to convert to MP3s. Following the wiki’s instructions, I upgraded to 2.0.2 and tried to go to the Lame download page, but it won’t load. The error message reads: “Oops. Google Chrome cannot connect to lame1.buanzo.com.ar”

http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#maclame

Will appreciate guidance in layman’s terms.

I did find http://lame.sourceforge.net/ but am unclear if downloading what they offer is a) what I need and b) is installed according to the instructions on the Audacity Wiki.

thanks,
steph

The site for LAME downloads:
http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/

is working as I write, but it was offline earlier today.

To avoid issues, left-click the links on http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/ (do not right-click).

Do not follow direct links to downloads hosted on http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/ as hot linking to lame1.buanzo is not allowed from most sites.

If essential, LAME can also be downloaded here:
http://gaclrecords.org.uk/audacity.html#OSX .

Lame.sourceforge.net is source code. You can’t use it directly for exporting MP3 files from Audacity.

Thank you.
Works like a charm!
