Unable to connect to update server?

When I try to check for updates Audacity tells me it couldn’t connect to the update server. Any idea how to fix this? I clearly have a working internect connection and other downloads and updates work just fine. I just downloaded it again and reinstalled but the problem persists. Using Win11 Home in its latest default channel version. It identifies as some kind of runtime error:

It’s rather academic at the moment because 3.7.7 is the latest version. You should be seeing a message saying “No Updates Available”.

Audacity 3.6.4 tells me that version 3.7.7 is availableif I manually select “check for updates…” in the “Help” menu. Or if you have enabled the automatic notification about new versions in the “Preferences” pane under "Application. Of course I now select “Skip” because I am happy with 3.6.4.

When the update server is not found, the problem is somewhere at your end.

I know it’s the latest version right now but it means I can’t just check for updates easily and have to check the site instead. It worked previously, I wonder what changed.

Judging from the error blurb it is a runtime issue but sadly won’t tell me what runtime.
