Troubleshooting Audacity Connectivity Issues with Routers and Audio Interfaces"

Hi all,

I’m experiencing connectivity problems when recording in Audacity with my setup. I’m using a USB microphone and connecting it through a router-based network, but occasionally I experience audio dropouts and latency issues. I suspect it could be related to my router’s traffic management or even its bandwidth capacity.

Has anyone here had issues with routers affecting the flow of audio signals, particularly when using interfaces or mics connected to the same network? I’ve checked all the physical connections, but the problem seems intermittent, possibly due to network congestion. Would setting up a direct connection or prioritizing traffic to the recording device help?

I’d appreciate any advice on resolving this issue!

Thanks in advance!

Audacity needs to be used with the computer’s internal drive.

Network drives have Collision Detection, Routing Management, Error Processing, and Resend Scheduling. All this is happening in the background where you don’t see it. It’s not a perfect connection all the time.

Audacity naturally assumes that any drive it can see can be used for its most delicate, difficult, and important jobs. It’s at a complete loss if a working drive starts acting “funny.”
