Trim Addio Issues

I recently upgraded from Version 2.3.x to Version 3.1.3 and I’m having issues with using the Trim Audio feature. When I highlight a section of audio in a track that I want to keep, I navigate to Edit → Remove Special → Trim Audio. Before the upgrade, that would delete everything except the highlighted audio. After the upgrade, the deleted section of audio reappears when dragging the clip handles (see attachments).

How do I permanently delete unwanted audio in a clip using Version 3.1.3?

This is a new “improvement”, but unfortunately this improvement has a lot of bugs and unfortunate side effects, including the issue that you describe.

One workaround (though not ideal) is to “Mix and Render” the track (“Tracks menu > Mix > Mix and Render”).

Thanks Steve. I’ll try that. Also, in my screen shots, I copied the audio sample from one project and pasted it to a new one. However, a bold vertical bar was also pasted with the audio around the 4 second mark. Do you know what that is? It is not there in the project it was copied from.

As a wild guess: Perhaps related to this bug: https://github.com/audacity/audacity/issues/2568
