Translating language on an audio animation

I am using version Mac OS X 10.6.8, and Audacity 2.0.6.
I have a few animation clips with a voiceover in German, which I am wanting to convert and translate into English. How would I go about doing this? I also have the presentation divided into 8 mini clips, and I am wanting to combine/integrate them into the one continuous file. How would I go about doing this?

Thank you.

You will need a video program to add your new audio to the video (Audacity only works with audio).

Open the video in your video editor and note the length and timing points for each of the voice over bits.

Make your English translation and edit it so that the timing matches with your notes - the timing does not need to be exact at this stage.

If you have installed a compatible version of FFmpeg (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown) then you will probably be able to import the original audio by selecting “File > Import Audio” then choose the video file. Many, but not all video formats are supported, so if that does not work, export the audio from the video using your video editing program - export in WAV format.

With both the original audio and your translation in the same Audacity project, compare the two and edit your translation so that the timing matches exactly with the original. Then delete the German track and export the translated version in WAV format.

Use your video editing program to replace the original soundtrack with your new soundtrack.
