Transferring settings from one PC to another

I’m trying to migrate my settings in audacity on one pc to use them in a fresh download of audacity on another pc. I keep finding not very useful advice on how to do this. Could someone run me how to do this using a USB flash drive?

There’s a hidden folder which contains your audacity preferences …

Users<username>\AppData\Roaming\audacity\

If you copy that folder to the same location on your other PC it should duplicate your settings.

Thanks Trebor. For reason I cannot fathom the said folders do not exist on my PC. Even when I 'unhide hidden folders they are nowhere to be found. It’s a puzzle.
I think I’ve now found a workaround that involves saving my effects settings to USB and my macros as an HTML doc.
Cheers

Hold down the the Windows key and press “R”.
This Run app should appear, input “%AppData%”, then press OK,
run

then open the “Roaming” folder which appears:
the “Hidden” Audacity folder should be in there.

Thanks Trebor. It definitely wasn’t there before, no matter how I entered %appdata%. I tried it as you have set out and %Appdata%, and %AppData%, all to no avail. But you seem to have worked some magic, as when I did it just now, there it was. I have a sneaking suspicion that it ‘repaired’ itself. Thank you once again.
