Transferring files to CD

Hello everyone. I’m in the process of recording old cassettes into audacity and then ripping them to CD. I’ve watched a few videos on this but I find it very confusing. I see certain videos that are saying to export the files to MP3. And videos saying to export to WAV. This is my first time doing this, and I was wondering if anyone can explain this to me, to make things more precise. I’m using the latest version of audacity along with Windows 10.I was going to email the audacity team and ask them, but I figured I post here first. I’m not seeing too many clear videos on this topic as of now. Any help would be great ! Thanks

How far did you get? Are the files digitized?

MP3 is lossy compression so you should avoid it (for this purpose).

CD audio is 16-bit, 44.1kHz, stereo. It’s best to export as WAV with those settings. (CDs don’t have WAV files but it’s the same underlying uncompressed PCM format.)

I was going to email the audacity team and ask them, but I figured I post here first.

This is the best place to get help.

Audacity can’t “burn” CDs. I use ImgBurn. Windows Media Player, and iTunes can also do it.

Hi, I have about 10-15 files ready to go that I’ve transferred from cassette into audacity. Now I’m just about ready to burn them onto CDs (as soon as I pick them up from Walmart lol) I’m using only Windows 10 so I don’t have worry about anything related to Mac btw, I realize that audacity can’t burn directly to CD, but the burner/player in my PC can.

Thank you
