Hi, New here. I just downloaded Audacity 3.1 on my Win10 laptop. I have an 8-track Zoom recorder (old model - no memory card, but a CD burner) and I would like to transfer my music from the Zoom unit to my laptop. Someone told me it can be done with Audacity. I have a double-headed mic/headphone cable that connects the Zoom to my laptop. Sorry, don’t know much about technology. Very much a novice. P.S. I know I can buy an external CD drive and do it that way, but thought I could transfer my music with the cable I have and Audacity. Thanks.
Does the Zoom have a USB port?

The mic input on the laptop is “wrong” for a line-level or headphone-level signal. If you want to make a digital-to-analog-to-digital recording you’d need an audio interface with line inputs. (The Behringer UCA202 is popular and inexpensive). And, you’d have to record the stereo mix, or a pair of tracks at a time… You wouldn’t be able to record 8 tracks simultaneously.

I guess your laptop doesn’t have a CD drive?
My Zoom recorder does not have a USB port.
My laptop does not have a CD drive (I’d have to buy an external CD drive).
I have one Master track for each song that I want to get on my laptop.
P.S. Forgot to add… my ultimate goal is to be able to send my music via email to friends and family. If you know another way I can get the music on my Zoom recorder into an email, I’d certainly appreciate it!
The CD drive (which will also probably be a DVD drive) is probably the best solution. …And then you can also rip or CDs or watch movies on your computer.
Email has file size limits so you might need to use a file sharing site (or send CDs through the regular mail).
Thanks – appreciate your help!
