Track Numbers not recognized during Music Export Audacity 4 on Mac

I have a simple workflow of transferring music event Reel to Reel tapes to Mac Music using a Tascam 208i and Audacity. Versions up to 3.7.8 worked perfectly allowing edits and fades and removal of lapses between cuts AND track separation and numbering. I then export the file to AIFF and import the tracks into Apple Music where I add track Names and Album artwork. When 3.7.9 came out I could no longer record! Tried everything I could think of, no joy. Downloaded Audacity 4 and I was back in business, record function worked fine. When I edited the resulting file post recording into track numbers it looked good but when I exported it, it was one big file, the track numbers were ignored. Using Time Vault I brought back 3.7.8 and opened the large file, re-inserted track numbers and re-exported. I don’t mind the new Audacity but the track export is essential.

It sounds like the issue may be with how Audacity 4 is exporting the track metadata rather than the track numbers themselves. Since the numbers appear correctly before export, I’d check the export settings/format and whether Audacity 4 is preserving labels as separate tracks. Re-exporting from 3.7.8 as you did is a good workaround for now.

This has nothing to do with it. The issue is that AU4 does not support Export Multiple.

Thanks Bill, Indeed Audacity 3 in the Export function allows tracks to be selected versus Audacity 4 only the project. I tried the selections pick in 4 but it was not successful. Guess I will stick with 3.7.8 until the issue is resolved.
