time lapse tool [SOLVED]

hey, everytime I make a selection the time lapse tool is being activated as well, why is this? it;s not happening on youtube tutorials.

Please note that many YouTube videos show old versions of Audacity and features may be different from the current version.
I don’t know what you mean by “time lapse tool”. Do you mean the Time Shift tool?

I do mean time shift yeah, whenever i highlight a section of the track it automatically adds a time shift arrow, is that because it is the new version? If it is how to I remove it? Thanks Steve
