the recording in windows wasapi wont work

im trrying to record my computer sound but its stuck at zero, it wont record. ive tried reinstalling the program but it doesnt fix it, before it worked, and now it doesnt.

Is there an application playing?
Unlike other “host” sound systems, WASAPI loopback won’t record unless there is an active audio stream - “something” has to be producing an active playback stream.

what do you mean?, ofcourse there is activate playback stream

Which application is playing?
Which audio device is it playing through?
What are your settings in the Device Toolbar?

So if the green bars on the recording meter https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/meter_toolbar.html are moving, perhaps you have turned on Sound Activated Recording. Check Transport>Transport Options>Sound Activated Recording. If it is checked it has been turned on. Also, see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recording_preferences.html#:~:text=Sound%20Activated%20Recording%3A%20Enables%20or,(see%20the%20item%20below).

I hope this helps.

There may not be. Audacity gets stuck like that when it’s expecting audio data to show up…and it doesn’t. You can have that condition if the sound source or music supply is expecting a “go” signal and it never gets one. All this is assuming the music supplier isn’t actively fighting you.

Recording internet sound or productions doesn’t always go well.

Skype or Zoom users can run into this. The poster didn’t say what the show was or where it came from. So we’re guessing.
