The OpenVINO A.I. tools won't download - odd error message!

Dear Nice Audacity People (I say that because if there’s anyone dumber using a computer, boy do I feel for him!)

I’ve got the latest Audacity, 3.7.7. When it opens up, it asks me if I’d like to download the latest free OpenVino tools. As I’m addicted to the word ‘Free’, I couldn’t click on ‘YES!’ fast enough.

Got taken to the download page. Clicked on the link, which asked me if I’d let Musehub open the link. I didn’t know what it was talking about (sorry!) but I said ‘Yes’ because I didn’t know what else to say. And I got the following:

This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page.

What’s the app that SHOULD be performing the action, Audacity? And where do I find the Default Apps Settings Page to create the association?

Please tell me - because the tools look darned useful!

Yours hopefully,

Chris.

I assume you are running Windows?

I don’t think you need an “association” as long as Audacity can find it. Windows may not “know” anything about it.

I’ve never tried OpenVINO but I just now tried downloading and I got:

audacity-win-v3.7.1-R4.2-64bit-OpenVINO-AI-Plugins.exe

I double-clicked to run the exe installer and it suggested installing to C:\Program Files\Audacity, which I accepted.

Then it “took forever” to download the actual plug-ins. (I should have selected only one to experiment with!)

It eventually created a folder called C:\Program Files\Audacity\openvino-models with more sub-folders and tons of files of various types.

Some further instructions popped-up saying to open Audacity and go to Edit → Preferences → modules and enable mod-openvino. Then close and re-open Audacity. (It was already enabled).

The effects are showing-up under Effect → OpenVINO AI effects.
