Hi… I have a brand new 27inch iMac…it no longer come with a line in port. I am converting audio cassettes to mp3 files…I am a teacher and want to put my audiobooks on my iPod.
So…I had to purchase a Syba USB Stereo sound adapter to connect the cassette player to my mac…
Audacity is working properly but it’s not actually recording the tape.
Can someone help me…I don’t know what’s wrong…Please help me…thank you so much
The pink connection on your adapter is for a mono microphone, not a stereo line-in. Can you get a refund (I can’t believe it was that much money). We recommend the Behringer UCA-202 for stereo devices (like the mixer in this illustration).
These will plug into any of the three major computer platforms and provide very good quality stereo in and out.
After you get it, plug it in, let the computer chew on it for a bit and then start Audacity. In that order. Use the Audacity recording drop-down and select “USB Audio Device.”
I’m using OS X 10.9.2, Audacity version 2.0.3, most likely from .dmg.
I am trying to use the same adapter, for the same reasons, sort of. I have a 13 inch Macbook, and I’m trying to hook up a piezo vibration sensor by USB so I can make an electric (eclectic?) didgeridoo.
At the moment, I’m trying a mono microphone from Radio Shack, and I’m getting nothing. Audacity records, but only a flat line, so I’m not sure what’s up with that
