Switch part selection

Hi,
Once the part of the first track has been selected as in the screenshot, is there a way to switch to the second track in the same portion without having to manually write the times?
Thanks

alternatively split the selected region into a clip, (so no writing necessary) …

  1. Press “Enter” to toggle the selection of the current track to “not selected”.
  2. Use “Up / Down” cursor keys to move to the required track
  3. Press “Enter” to toggle the selection to “selected”.

Perfect so it is very very easy

my english is bad but trying I’m proceeding in this way,
I select the portion with the mouse then with up or down and send the track move and it’s ok but
but if I wanted to select the portion not with the mouse but with the contactors how should I do? it highlights the portion but I can’t select it

Press the “Enter” key (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enter_key) to select or de-select the current track.

Use the cursor / arrow “up” and “down” keys (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow_keys) to move from one track to another.

Step by step:

  1. Make a selection with the mouse
  2. “Down arrow” (moves to the next track)
  3. “Enter” selects the same region in the next track
  4. Repeat with the arrow keys and the Enter key to select / deselect whichever tracks you want.

It’s ok but I wanted to start not with the mouse selection but with a time range with the contactor at the bottom?

I’ve re-read your original post, and that is not what you asked

The time controls in the “Selection Toolbar”: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/selection_toolbar.html

Sorry
You replied to my thread
but then the discussion moved but I wanted to avoid opening a thread just for this,
I know how to use the contactors but I was asking once the range time has been entered in the contactors, how can I select it?

As Steve said,

let me explain again, I would like to mark the tracks not with the mouse but by setting the values from the contactors

What do you mean by “contactors”?

I would like to set the start and end of the track and then select it but I can’t because it selects the entire track, do you understand?
Thanks

If tracks don’t have focus, press:

  • Ctrl + Shift + F6

then

  • Enter

The easier way is to click on the track first, then enter the times.

Finally you have solved the dilemma the first method works
it has become a matter of principle, I specify:
you can see the screenshots

1: I select the portion with the click, track two is highlighted in yellow
2: as soon as I click on the number below it will deselect (that was the problem :unamused: )
3: Ctrl + Shift + F6 finally gets reselected

now i can with the up + enter copy the same portion in track 1 above

method 2 doesn’t work because (see step 2) it is deselected
So the fastest way is always 1?
Thanks a lot

It hasn’t “deselected”. The “selection” (indicated by light blue highlighting) is still there, but the “focus” (indicated by the yellow outline) has moved from the track to the Selection Toolbar.

To move focus back to the track, you can either:
a) Press “Ctrl + Shift + F6”
or
b) “Shift + Click” on the track’s “Selection” button (bottom of the panel on the left end of the track).

Thanks for your patience you have solved all my doubts
