Suddenly unable to export Stereo WAV files

Please help, i have used audacity to record thousands of stereo WAVs using 2 (stereo) channel recording as Stereo 44100 khz 32 bit float onto a USB stick. Suddenly without changing any settings wheni try to export as a WAV i get the messsage GSM.10 requires mono. i absolutely want them as stereo. i can export them as .ogg files but this is not ideal. i have 67 gb of space left on the USB stick i am using - could this be the problem?

Would be nice to read a few more details, for example:

  • what computer (Mac, Luinux, Windows)?
  • what operating system version?
  • what version of Audacity?
  • what is “GSM.10” (I know GSM only from mobile phones)?
  • did you install (or uninstall) anything since it last worked? Programs or operating systems?

You write about USB stick - Audacity works best with internal drives, and they should not be formatted as FAT32.

What format can you export? You could export it, for example, in AIFF or FLAC and then use a free converter to make WAVs out of it if the problem cannot be solved otherwise.

Don’t worry i found that in the export as WAV format encoding option had changed in the drop down to GSM.10 rather than 16 bit PCM, so once that was fixed, all saving properly again.
