For the last couple of days all audio files loaded are showing a light blue overlay which appears to be at the front. So when I select a section of the audio the selection is behind the overlay which does not allow fine selection.
I did try to get help from ChatGPT but to no avail.
I could load a screenshot but cannot see how to do that.
Any ideas on how to remove this overlay? Please advise
Today 12/08/25 I installed Audacity 3.7.6 upgrade and now selection process is messed up. Ends of selections not working. Previous version was working great. I reply here because when I pasted an Audacity clip, the pasted section is now all highlighted.
When I hold the shift key down & mouse click on a 2nd part of timeline, a selection appears. good job. Now if mouse left click and hold at end of the selection the entire timeline, with version 3.7.6 the entire timeline starts moving. This is new behavior. From my perspective, broken behavior. This was not occurring on previous Audacity versions.
I have experienced a very similar thing with 3.7.6 on Arch Linux. Selecting with the mouse also seems to scroll the clip and both the beginning and end of the selection end up in unpredictable places. I’m not really able to use it in this state and I’ve downgraded.
Thanks I think you have nailed it. At least when I clicked on the envelope tool link in your post it looks like that is what is happening.
However I cannot seem to turn it off in my toolbar for some reason. Will keep trying but if you can guide me that would be appreciated. It seems to be stuck ‘on’ and will not click ‘off’
