Splitting an LP

My need seems simple. I have an LP that I recorded with a separate program in wav format. I want to split the album into its individual songs. I can load it into Audacity. I can split it. I can rename the split. If I try to export it, It exports the whole thing not the clip. I can highlight the clip and select copy, but I don’t get the choice to “paste” it into the folder I want it in. I don’t need to convert the file type

When exporting, choose ‘‘Current selection’’

I think that screenshot is misleading/confusing. I don’t do it that way. I would select STEREO not mono and I would export ‘multiple files’ not ‘current selection’. This is what the manual suggests: Sample workflow for LPs.

Whenever Audacity opens/imports a file, it is converted into something Audacity can deal with. This is then not an audio file. You then need to export it (again) as an audio file, after you had labeled the individual tracks.

Thanks so much. That seems to be it.

Did you solve the issue?

Does your Export dialog look something like this?
