Split clips volume and effects difference

I’m new to audacity but after an 90 minutes of searching YT and this forum, nothing has worked.

I recorded some audio for a meditation recording yesterday and today recorded more to add to it today. I applied a number of settings to the recording yesterday (I don’t recall them all so I have no idea how to repeat them on the new clip). Today’s recording is super quite and I want it to be seamlessly integrated in the recording. I tried normalizing, amplifying etc, and nothing changes the volume of today’s recording to match the recording from yesterday. I also want the entire track to have all the same settings such as De-clicker, normalizing, getting rid of the background hum, etc. The recording from yesterday is perfect.

This has to be simple fix but I can’t figure it out.

Looking forward to other help

2 different types of Normalizing: “Loudness Normalization” is the one to use …

If you apply it individually to clips they will become equally loud.

Thanks. I tried that just now and it still didn’t work. The 2nd clip is extremely quiet. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/geqj2n0w2m8351yzwxdbm/Screenshot-2025-05-16-at-8.28.22-PM-2.png?rlkey=8ovx1xnugogfapzgqbc5gllgj&dl=0

Loudness Normalization, (not normalize), has to be applied individually to each clip …

Loudness Normalization -20LUFS

To repeat an effect “Ctrl”+“R”.

Oh great! I will try this tomorrow. Thanks so much!!

It worked! Thanks so much. Is there a way to apply the effects from one clip to the new clip or do I have to do it all from scratch? And if I do have to start from scratch with the effects, is there a way to undo all the effects from the original so I can start over?

Really appreciate your help,

Chris

Audacity has macro* feature to apply the same recipe of effects to different clips … Macros - Audacity Manual
(You have to write the recipe).

[ * Applying noise reduction in a macro has a problem: you have to manually select the noise profile ]

Ok great. I will try this out soon  Thanks again
