Speed of time without altering sound?

Hello,

I want to speed up my voice which I have recorded, but when I do so with Audacity the pitch would be altered. So right now I am exporting the file to mp3. Open it in VLC and there I speed it up to 1.5x or 2x, then I record it with a screen recorder to a .mp4 file and then import that file into Audacity to export it to .mp3. This works, but if it can be less tedious that would be preferred.

Effect > Change Tempo is supposed to change duration without significantly altering the pitch.

I do not have that effect, I need to find it only maybe there is a plug-in.
Thanks for the recommendation Koz!

Okay, thanks it worked just like you said the pitch will not alter if a person uses ‘Change Tempo’

How did you find it? Change Tempo has been a part of the regular toolset forever. I just opened up Audacity 2.4.2 and it was there.

It’s possible to have an Audacity Program that’s not from Audacity…

Do you remember where you got it from?

Koz

Ubuntu native package manager.

I found a plugin and installed it into Audacity, I only needed to enable it, and when I clicked on the disable tab, I saw that ‘Change tempo’ and ‘Change speed’ were disabled. I think I might have disabled them two years ago. Probably due to their ineffectiveness regarding the alteration in the pitch. Again thanks for the tip man
