Speech wanted, no music in background

I have several dozen religious programs that I need to record. I am only interested in recording in the spoken word, no music. I tried to use the Clean Speech stand alone program, not vey successfully.
I am using Windows 7, and the cables attached to the tv via RCA connectors and then plugged into the mic slot on the computer.

Any suggestions?

If the speech and music are at same time, they cannot be separated. “You can’t un-bake a cake or un-fry and egg, and you can’t un-mix sound.”.

Of course, if the music & speech are at different times, you can edit it just as you could edit tape or film. And with stereo recordings, you can isolate left & right. And, you can subtract left & right to remove “center channel vocals”, and to some extent you can isolate the “center channel”, but these center-channel effects are not always perfect and there may be side-effects.

You should be using the line-input. The mic input is too sensitive for the line-level outputs from the TV (or CD/DVD player, etc.) , and it’s generally mono so you’ll probably get only one channel. If you have a laptop with no line input and you want good quality, the Behringer UCA202 is usually the most economical solution.
