Snowball USB mic not recognized

I’m running Audacity 2.0.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8. My Snowball USB mic suddenly won’t show up as an input device (it did before). All I have is “built in input” in the drop-down list. All Audacity preferences are set to the default as far as I know. I’ve tried unplugging the mic, quitting Audacity, reinserting the mic (in the same USB slot and in a different one) and restarting Audacity. I can see the mic has power but it still isn’t recognized by Audacity. I’ve read the FAQs and searched the forum topics without success, so any suggestions would be welcomed.

If it’s a straight recognition problem, you should be able to restart Audacity with the mic plugged in and it should be there.

If the Mac can’t see it, that’s the end of the story. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Is the mic listed there? Can you select it and watch the bouncing sound meter jump to your voice?

Thanks! I will try that.
