Silence Finder (again)

As more than one person has noted over the years, the Silence Finder analyzer has come and gone, moved, renamed, been replaced (“Label Sounds”), and now apparently moved to an external Vamp plugin. That plugin (Aubio) works fine, but it checks and labels silence in ALL tracks, which is a pain for us doing many-track recordings.

Back in 2021, Steve said ‘The old Silence Finder is still available as an optional “Nyquist plug-in”.’ But the link he provided now goes to the new Audacity Support page, and even following the difficult trail from there to Nyquist Analyzer plugins is a dead end. https://plugins.audacityteam.org/analyzers/analysis-plugins

Any suggestions, anyone, please?

The “Label Sounds” plug-in is still included in Audacity by default. (Label Sounds - Audacity Manual) It is in the “Analyze” menu.

I’ll see if I can find the old Silence Finder for you…

I found your old one: (discussion) Silence Finder Labels with a link to SilenceMarker.ny - yay! Works great!

I’m running Audacity 3.6.4 on Windows, and “Label Sounds” is not in the Analyze menu. Ah-ha, it was not enabled in the Plugin Manager list! I don’t think I did that… Is it possible it’s disabled by default?

So that we have the full collection somewhere:
