Is there a way to add a signal to the musician so he knows exactly when to start playing at the beginning of the song. You know, like a “1-2-1-2-3-4 go !!” kind of thing?

The tick or lead-in track. Usually four drum beats on the edge of the drum. Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Music. Four is usually enough to sync to the rhythm since you’re not doing it cold. You already know that the song is and about how fast it goes.
You can make your own and put that track at the top and set Audacity to play it while you record new work. That’s a Preference setting called "Play tracks While Recording New Ones. I would record my own actual drum sounds. Doing it with the sound generators will drive you nuts because it never works out to be an even number of seconds.
