Setting up Samson c01u

Hi everyone.

I recently bought a new laptop, which has 64-bit Windows 8.1 on it. For my previous, Windows 7 computer, I successfully used a Samson c01u mic with Audacity. I remember having the same intial problems (recording audio levels too low and no way to fix it) with the old computer, but I can’t remember how on earth I finally got it to work. But I did and now I’m totally lost with the same problem on Win 8. If anyone could give me a step-by-step tutorial as to what I should do to hear anything more than a whisper from my usb mic on Audacity, I would really appreciate it. P.S. I already tried adjusting the system sound/recording settings. It didn’t work for the outcome.

It’s not unusual for a device/microphone to have added talents and abilities if you download software or drivers specifically for that device. It was recently discovered that even the dirt simple UCA-202 has adjustments made available with a driver.
