I have set up my speakers and microphone to play through the headphones and they pass the tests found in the control pannel but Audacity 2.0.2 is still using the built in speakers in my Asus laptop rather than the USB output to my headphones. I tested it with Itunes and the player used the headphones. VLC played it’s media through the headphones and USB port as well. Any ideas on how I can route sound from Audacity through to the same output. The Device info sheet says its using : Device name: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output.
Try clicking Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in Audacity, then choosing “Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output” should use the USB headphones, given they seem to be the default playback device. You need to make this output selection in Device Toolbar in Audacity. You can also explicitly choose the USB headphones as output there.
