Selection Tool not snapping to the end of an audio piece

Greetings,

(Windows 10, version 2.1.3)

This is a very minor problem but it’s kinda frustrating especially when dealing with audio loops, the selection tool doesn’t automatically snap to the end of an audio piece when i select it
I’ve tried reinstalling and redefining preferences but it doesn’t seem to work, and this problem only occurs with one project, which has 7 tracks and is about 7 minutes long

Thanks!

Are you referring to the vertical yellow snap line that appears when you drag a selection to the time position of a clip boundary or label?
What exactly are you doing when the problem occurs?

Thank you for answering, yes i am referring to that, now that the yellow snap line doesn’t show up i have to manually zoom a lot to select the exact end of a clip

I’ve seen that type of problem occasionally. Are you able to give exact steps that will reliably reproduce the problem?

Hi everybody!

I have a problem with editing the labels.

  1. The label disappears when I zoom in too much, but I need this in order to place the label accurately. (See screen capture)

  2. The labels don’t snap to anything. Is it just me or do I need a special shortcut or setting enabled?

Many thanks in advance

Same here…

The label does not snap to anything and when I zoom in too much it even disappears. Currently there is no way to set a label accurately.

Is there any fix or solution to this problem?

Windows 7 x64 SP1 EN - Audacity 2.1.3 (installed)

I can’t tell you exactly what triggered it, i’m not sure but i think i saw the problem after i added the 5th track and was editing it (cutting and moving), but that was when i realized it

Also today i recorded another track for the project and when i drag it across the screen It only snaps where it’s highlighted

Do you need Snap-To enabled in Selection Toolbar?

If “Snap To” in Selection Toolbar is enabled, mouse-dragged selections and mouse clicks will only snap to the chosen unit of time and not to physical boundaries (unless a boundary is already aligned with the chosen unit of time).

You probably have an old version of Audacity. See the pink panel at the top of the page. Try the current Audacity 2.1.3 Audacity ® | Download for Windows.

If you are dragging labels, they don’t snap to other labels, clips, editing cursor or selection boundary. Those are feature requests.

I am using Audacity 2.1.3 (installed, not the zip version) on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
Any ideas? Is this a bug?

Thanks for your answer. I hope these features will be implemented soon, can’t wait to see them.

I added your “votes” for those features.

Using a similar layout to that you show, I could not reproduce the problem in 2.1.3 or 2.2.0-alpha.

Please save it as a project and attach the AUP file so we can see exact timings of the labels and audio tracks. Please see how to attach files to forum posts.

I turned it off and it’s working as intended now, thank you very much!
