Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen) - Record "WhatUHear" "Stereomix" "overdub" "system audio + mic"

Hello,

I´ve just purchased a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and would like to record microphone and whatever sound the computer makes at the time.
I can hear exactly what I want to record on the headphones but the recording only picks up the microphone OR sounds from the PC, never both.

My Settings / Windows 10:

Windows WASAPI / Speaker (Focusrite USB Audio) (loopback) / 2 (Stereo) // Speaker (Focusrite USB Audio)
→ records Systemaudio (for example youtube video) BUT no Mic

Windows WASAPI / Analogue 1+2 (Focusrite USB Audio) / 2 (Stereo) // Speaker (Focusrite USB Audio)
→ records only Mic BUT no Systemaudio

Is there a way to record Mic + Systemaudio at the same time?

I remember this being called stereomix running flawlessly on WindowsXP some 10 years ago (with some gaming creative soundblaster) but never got that working on newer PCs with onboard soundcards since.
I was sure an audio interface like Scarlett 2i2 would to the trick but so far I can’t get it to work.

Thanks

(yes, I searched for this topic many times before I had the Scarlett Interface…surprised to still have issues getting this to work now)

If available on your computer, you will need to go into the Windows Sound control panel and enable “Listen to this device” for the microphone.
(this web page may be helpful: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/126383-listen-microphone-through-playback-device-windows.html)
Note that with “Listen to this device” enabled, it is essential that you use headphones and not loudspeakers.

You should then be able to record the microphone along with audio that is playing on your computer, but note that the microphone will be delayed (like an echo) due to the time it takes for Windows to route the mic signal through to the playback device.

In most cases, a better way would be to record the sounds that are playing on your computer, and then record the microphone to a new track (“Shift + Record button”).
